(c)ensitive_words is an interactive program that generates poems from an array of words censored on the Chinese Internet. Upon users’ clicks, each poem generates overlaps on the previous one, forming unreadable blackened blocks.

The Array of the censored words includes names of Japanese pornstars, political issues, names and nick-names of the past and present Communist Party leaders, explicit languages, names of political prisoners, animation characters including Elsa from Frozen and Winnie-the-Pooh, LGBTQ and related ‘unconventional’ concepts, and names of Western broadcast and newspaper companies.
