HYPA-PHIXED is a group exhibition curated by Kiik Amor. The exhibition presented two new works by Yifan He exploring lesbian fantasies: a small installation and 3 interactive fountains activated by a live performance.

Installation

Four lenticular prints encased in two sets of silver bifold A6 glass frames, installed at the corner of two walls as fringes. The lenticular prints feature close-up body parts taken from selfies and video calls: hard to read but pornographically encoded with lesbian sxxx, warm-toned and low-res, playfully censored by sparkles.

Installation

pp_machine_x3 is a set of fountains steeped in the dyke fantasy of wetness. Controlled by a tattoo machine power supply and its foot pedal, the beeswax-primed and wigged cardboard boxes squirt water when stepped on.

pp_machine_x3 is materially interested in the vulnerability and capacity of cardboard to hold water (the installation broke down by the end of the exhibition). What remained was the voltage controller and the pedal, distantly referencing the controlled process of fabulation/to-transform.

The installation was activated by the performance 14.44 at 4:14pm, Saturday 27 April 2024.

Based around the interactive installation pp_machine_x3, 14.44 quenches thirsts and asks for wetness back. Two performers engage in a constant fight for fourteen minutes and forty-four seconds over control of the pedal; the loser drinks the water squirted from the fountain.

The durational grunts, thrusts, water splashing, spitting, and swallowing are an initiation to step into the contesting state of intimacy with and without trust, power-play, referencing queer sxxx and the angel number for new beginnings.
